Tonight at Mobile Monday Belgium, we are going to have a talk about NearYoo by Eric Charles.

This got me trying the app.

A nifty twitter app

They do use special location tags and I wonder if this is going to work from this post.

So I could know who is near me using: http://near.st/u/philippeback

Thing is that I am in Waterloo, Belgium at this time of writing. But the system puts me in the UK or something. Maybe they do not use all the info they have about me.

I do not know how fast they update. Posting a tweet with >Waterloo, Belgium< is not showing up yet.

Well, after about 2-3 minutes the thing worked, proof is in the pudding:

Some people Nearyoo :-)

It is an interesting concept. I wonder if there is any BlackBerry client which is GPS-enabled. Or using Google’s Latitude info from the phone is the GPS-power-sucking device is turned off.

So much for privacy anyway!
